Golf is now firmly ensconced in the Algarve, With over 20 high quality golf courses and more being developed. The following 6 courses are all within a ½ hours drive from Quinta Das Achadas. They go from good recreational golf course to full championship golf courses that will seriously challenge any golfer. We are able to offer any number of packages with tee times, discounted green fees and buggy hire arranged before you get to us.

Palmares Golf

Palmares is a combination of sloping hills and links holes. The course was designed by Frank Pennink in 1975 and has stood the test of time very well. To play Palmares is as much about enjoying the course as it is playing it. At 6519 yds and some very testing holes on both the front and back nine Palmares is no push over, but when you come of with a double bogey at least you will have a beautiful vista to curse at.

Penina Golf

Penina was the first modern day built course in the Algarve back in 1966 by Sir Henry Cotton. It truly offers a championship course measuring 7042 yds from the back tees and even the best of golfers will have to pay this course respect. A flat layout that is cut with streams, ditches and water hazards Penina is perhaps a course to play matchplay or stableford to enjoy. Why ruin a memorable round with a couple of bad holes.

Parque da Floresta

Parque da Floresta sits as the most western part of the Algarve. At only 6201 yds the course is not long but boy does it have teeth. With an almost constant wind club selection is imperative if your going to post a good round. Designed in 1998 and terrain that would seriously test a 4x4 Parque da Floresta is best viewed in a buggy. With some great imagination and some wonderful views it is a course well worth playing.

Alto Golf and Country Club

Alto Golf is a really nice holiday course. Not to intimidating for the high handicapper and enjoyable in being able to post a good score for the lower handicapper. Designed on a template by Sir Henry Cotton Alto has one claim to fame and that is at 661 yds the 16^th is one of the longest holes in Europe where a visitors birdie wins a prize.

Vale da Pinta

Pinta is still a largely undiscovered gem of a course not only in the Algarve but also Portugal. Designed in 1992 by Ronald Fream the course at present plays 6722 yds. But such is the recognition of the layout of the course that it is being lengthened to a formidable 7357 with aspirations to play major championship. At Pinta know one hole stands out but rather all 18 will be memorable.

Gramacho

The Gramacho course although not unique in design is very well thought out. With only nine greens but eighteen tee boxes the Gramacho course offers a varied golfing experience. No two holes play the same and this makes the course a pleasure to play. Also measuring at 6473 it is by all means no slouch either.

All the above courses have extensive facilities not only for the golfer but also for the family.

These are just the few beside Quinta Das Achadas a little further on and you get to the internationally acclaimed Vale do Lobo, Vilamoura and Quinta do Lago resorts but these are no more than 1 hours drive away.

We have also teamed up with a local golf pro and can customise a teaching programme so as to perfect those elusive shots while you stay with us.

Please be aware golf in the Algarve is very popular at certain times of the year, so planning is essential so as to get favourable tee times etc.

Alternatively golf outside of the peak season can be equally as rewarding with lots of courses giving big discounts to play.
